Steve Austin is a local disabled artist who specializes in mobiles and stabiles. "I can hardly present my work without some acknowledgement to the work of Alexander Calder whose art has always been an inspiration and guide. I would be happy if my work justifies any minimal comparison." His first major piece was done some 15 years ago as an anniversary gift for friends. Since then, many of the pieces he has produced until now have been for his residence or given as gifts. Steve grew up in the Washington DC area, moved to the Adirondacks in upstate New York in 1975 and then to Harrisburg in 1986. Works are constructed of various materials with paints and chemical treatments used to color the elements. Custom color schemes and sizes can also made to order.
